Originally, we were going to celebrate Brody’s first birthday on his birthday, but we ended up going to California for his cousin Jake’s (Don’s nephew) funeral. So sad. So, so sad.
So, we celebrated his birthday a day late, yesterday. Normally that would have been no big deal, but he had his 12-month shots yesterday too. The other times he has had shots, they didn’t seem to bother him afterwards. Well, last night and again this morning, he just isn’t acting himself. And he feels hot. Poor guy. He wouldn’t even eat his cake or ice cream last night, which is super strange for him.
I still can’t believe that Brody is one. It feels like a mission; the days are long, but time sure goes by so fast. Raising Brody is harder than a mission, but worth every second! He brings us so much happiness!
I love
- going to get him from his nap and he is standing with Blue, his bear, in his mouth and holding on the side of the crib bouncing.
- when he bounces up and down in the grocery cart because he loves to go shopping.
- that he has been sleeping through the night since he was 10-months-old.
- his red hair. Everyone compliments him on it.
- his perfect little round face.
- that he loves to play with any gadget or technical thing (cell phones, remote controls, cables and wires, etc.)
- his laugh and smile.
- the raspberries that he does.
- that he loves to breastfeed.
- that he is determined.
- how he knows his mommy and daddy.
- how he rarely gets sick.
- that he loves to go on walks.
- that he is fearless. He’ll just dive off the couch with no fear.
- his half smile.
- that he gets so excited when his daddy comes home.
- that he is our EVERYTHING!
Can you tell he’s not feeling so hot here?!
Opening his gifts, after telling people not to bring any. He got a bubble machine, a cool car, and soap in the shape of a bear!
For his stats, he is underweight (19 lb 1 oz), short (2 ft 5in), and huge head (19in). He is in the 90th percentile for head. It’s all in his brain!
Now we’ll just wait to see when he gets another brother or sister…
I love that he starts to dance when he hears music (even the singing at church).
ReplyDeleteI love how he strains to look around the front door when we come in from our walks to see if his mommy is sitting at her desk.
I love that no matter how I am feeling, one look at him can make me smile.
I love how he is already starting to figure so many things out. That he will keep trying until he gets it.
I love that his mommy stays home to watch him all day.
He really is adorable! Happy Birthday Brody!
